The IAAF has always been at the forefront of the fight against the use of performance enhancing substances. Our commitment to making Athletics a doping-free sport is total and we now wish to further expand the operational capabilities of the IAAF’s Medical and Anti-Doping Department through the creation of a new position.

The successful candidate will be based at the IAAF Headquarters in Monaco and will play a key role in our intensification of the fight against doping.
Medical Manager
• Qualification: sports physician with M.D. (with scientific or biological orientation).
• Responsibilities:
- General supervision and Management of the Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) process conducted by the IAAF for International-Level athletes, in co-ordination with the IAAF TUE Sub-Commission; obtaining specialist medical advice on incoming TUE applications if required;
- Management of the register of athlete medical/biological profiles (hematological/steroid urine profiles) in co-ordination with IAAF scientific experts;
- Co-ordination and management of IAAF medical and scientific research projects (e.g. athlete use of nutritional/food supplements, epidemiologic studies, athlete injuries/sickness experienced in competition);
- Co-ordination of all education/prevention materials providing information on medical and scientific issues;
- Liaison with National Athletics Federations and Team Doctors on all medical-related matters;
- Liaison with IAAF Medical and Anti-Doping Delegates at Major IAAF competitions;
- Drafting and updating of the Medical Guidelines for IAAF competitions;
- Examination and evaluation of laboratory analytical reports and medical explanations in positive cases with recourse to expert advice if necessary; >p>- Permanent contact with WADA-accredited anti-doping laboratories; >p>- Liaison with WADA on all medical/scientific issues (list of prohibited substances, international standards, WADA-accredited laboratories, TUEs).
• Other skills required
- English or French mother tongue, excellent command of English (if not mother tongue), other languages an advantage;
- Experience and skill in the use of information technology tools;
- Good communication skills; ability to work in a team environment. |
