News from the Interfederal Commission of FIMS - January 2010

The Interfederal Commission was appointed in Krakow - Poland, on the 24/11/06.

The current members are as follows: G. Van Dugteren, P. Jenoure, D. McDonagh, M. Zorzoli, M. Leglise, P. Baumgartl and Katharina Grimm with Chairman C. Christodoulakis. Representatives of FIMS Executive on this Commission are: J. Cummiskey and F. Pigozzi.

The Interfederal Commission had meetings approximately twice a year as follows:

30/04/07 Rio De Janeiro, Brazil
05/10/07 Basel, Switzerland
30/11/07 Monte Carlo
18/11/08 Barcelona, Spain
04/04/09 Nicosia, Cyprus
20/11/09 Salonica, Greece

Over the course of about 2 years, the members of Commission had discussions on a number of subjects and suggestions and reports were submitted to the Executive Committee of FIMS.

"The Event Physician Text Book" by Dr. McDonagh, was always on the agenda and a relevant seminar was held in Cyprus during the meeting of the Interfederal Commission, in the framework of the Games of the Small States of Europe, in Nicosia-Cyprus, 2-5 April, 2009.

Currently the Commission is working, as a group, to present a draft statement regarding "The protection of the Sports Medicine Physician". The target to be ready and presented for acceptance to the Executive Committee of FIMS in Puerto Rico, is in May 2010.
