Emergency Sports Medicine
This issue contains articles on the diagnosis, management and treatment of emergy sports-related injuries that present at the Medical Tent at sports events, such as road races and soccer matches, (Emergency medical cover for road races; Emergency medical planning at soccer matches) as well as at hospital emergency units (Acute cervical spine injuries to the athlete: Diagnosis, management, and return-to-play). There are also articles on the means of preventing certain head injuries (Helmets and head protection for the athlete as a means to prevent injuries) and dental injuries (The role of the mouthguard in the prevention of sports-related dental injuries) through sports participation. This issue also has a short article on the injuries treated in a hospital Trauma Unit from a relatively new recreational sport – microscooter riding.
